The idea behind the One Book philosophy is simple.
One Book fosters a community to come together through shared
experiences and to grow and to learn from literature. Middle Country
stands behind this philosophy with Middle Country Reads, an initiative
sponsored by the Middle Country Public Library, Middle Country School
District, and Bargain Books.
Middle Country Public Library will have several events at the library
for the community that will emphasize key concepts in the “One Book”
such as book discussions, programs, and author events. Schools in the
community will also be involved with Middle Country Reads. High School
students will explore issues related to the book in their English
Language Arts classes as well as focusing on issues related to
character building and personal responsibility.
Anyone who wishes to be part of the One Book philosophy with Middle
Country Reads can sign a pledge online by clicking the "Pledge" box, or
by visiting the Middle Country Public Library.
